Adoration Prayer – An Ode to God

An adoration prayer is a prayer in which we come before a holy God with a heart of praise and worship. We have the opportunity to give honor to Him for His unconditional love. A perfect love that He shows us in spite of our sinful nature (Romans 5:8). We adore Him for who He is, for what He has done, and what He is doing continually in our lives. We acknowledge His sovereignty and authority over our lives and thank Him for guiding our footsteps on this Christian journey. We thank Him for His many blessings. Most of all we thank Him for His never-ending mercy and grace. In an adoration prayer, we find comfort in God’s presence and give Him the praise for the joy and elation He has placed in our hearts. God has stated in His Word that we are to love Him with all our heart, mind and soul (Matthew 22:37). This is our opportunity to express our love to Him.

God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 150:1-6). Praising God is a wonderful solution for the many evil attacks that we deal with everyday; while acknowledging that God has power over every person, thing, and circumstance. This is our opportunity to express to God that we are nothing without Him; but, everything through Him. An adoration prayer allows us to focus and acknowledge God’s existence and give Him all the praise for His benevolence. We never want to forget that God is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We should always remember to approach the Throne of Grace with humility and gratitude toward a loving God.
